What Luke
might say about Grace Church
In Acts 2,
Luke describes the early Church. Below is a hypothetical
look at what we would like him to say about Grace Church if
he were to continue his description.
Acts 2:48-58 (not in Bible)
[48] Brothers,
let us consider Grace Church in Mesa, Arizona as one
following our example.
[49] Godly leadership was foundational at Grace as they
followed the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and proved
their spiritual maturity by their faith and the love they
had for one another. [50] The love and unity of the
believers were genuine and reached beyond their own
community as they sought to bring others to our LORD. [51]
They spread the Gospel in their communities as everyone,
both young and old, reached out boldly to friends and
family, neighbors and peers, establishing additional
fellowships of believers in nearby communities.
[52] As in the days of our fellowship, the Grace pastors
faithfully taught the Word of God. Biblical instruction was
at the core of their existence in their meetings and in
their homes. [53] They were intensely devoted to seeking the
mind of Christ, the application of the Word to their lives,
and the instruction of the Word on to their children. [54]
The believers engaged in personal and corporate worship as
the Lord continued to strengthen and encourage them. [55]
Much praise was given to God as they regularly saw others
come to faith in Christ and they witnessed miraculous
answers as they diligently emphasized fellowship with the
LORD through prayer.
[56] The vision for local and global missions was emphasized
in the Grace Church family; some serving for weeks or
months, while still others dedicated their entire lives to
bringing the Good News of our LORD to the world. [57] As
happened among us, the believers at Grace were also generous
in their giving to the ministry of the Church, to those in
need, and to those who spread the message of Jesus.
[58] Brethren, I commend to you Grace Church, committed to
the Gospel and the teaching and fellowship of the saints as
encouraged by our Lord Jesus Christ. The LORD added to their
number. Glorifying Christ remained the unhindered focus in
everything.
